Managers at Gaia House
Gaia House offers an opportunity to serve through supporting the needs of those on retreat. Being a manager means you can develop and deepen your practice of integrating work, meditation and social interaction in the midst of a community. The daily challenges of living and working closely with others in a busy retreat centre are significant features of one's life and practice as a manager. Providing a caring and supportive atmosphere for others on retreat is a rewarding way to give service. Eight managers work closely together to care for the needs of the retreatants and share the responsibilities of keeping the house running effectively and smoothly. These responsibilities include cooking, administration, the maintenance and care of the house, grounds and the organic vegetable garden.
Managers are asked to make a commitment for a twelve-month period. Room, board and a small monthly allowance are provided. The continued existence of Gaia House depends upon individuals who are willing to offer this deeply- needed expression of service.
